Hotel Accommodations

We have a block of room at the Marriott Courtyard-Riverchase set up for you!  It's on Highway 31 next door to Jim & Nicks BBQ and a few blocks south of the Galleria.  Here's a link to make it easy for you.  They are kingsized beds but if you want a Queen, call the hotel directly at 205-988-5000 and request one.

Also, if you are flying in, Birmingham Airport and Hoover does have Uber and Lyft for your convenience.

Susan Beard's company, Alacare, was named the Largest women-owned business in Birmingham by the Birmingham Business Journal.  She and her family have made many positive changes to our community as well.  This is well deserved and she makes us all proud to call her our own.

David Thomas has passed away

I'm sorry to have to announce we have lost another classmate.  David Thomas was a very colorful personality.  I will post more info as it comes in but it seems he died in his sleep of heart failure/heart attack.  One thing he did tell me was how much he really enjoyed our 30th Reunion and he helped me with the Memorial slideshow.  He was profoundly upset that so many of us had passed away and wanted to make sure I knew who to contact for photographs.

I found a few FaceBook postings that made me smile.  I'll update with the funeral arrangements and obit when they are announced.

"Can't believe it been 30 years, The class of 82 is such a magical class with beautiful people. These past 2 years I had the great honor of being reunited with some old friends and making friends to those that I wasn't close to in high school, To those that I may have had issues with or vice versa, I hope tonight we can bury the hatchet, I always for new beginnings.I drove around the old campus the other day, The old building is such a lonely place w/o the class of 82. I know all classes say this but the class of 82 is the BEST, Hope to see you all in just a few "

"One of favorite highlights of the night was Lisa Gustin forgiving me for throwing a rock at their family car and busting out the windshield when I was such a stupid kid . That's been on my conscience for almost 35 years now."

Go with the Angels David, you will be missed here on earth.

Kaitlin's Comfort Kits

Many of us have seen inspirational people in our class, and now that we are getting older, we can see our children doing the same. Here is Lynn Hightower-Moore's daughter Kaitlin being interviewed by Fox6 about her medical conditions and why she started a charity to help those with tumors.
